CA1 Pyramidal Cells
At our lab, we explore how the brain learns, stores, and recalls memories. We're especially curious about what makes certain experiences unforgettable—like a trauma or a big reward—while others, like where you parked your car, seem to vanish instantly.
By studying the neurobiological mechanisms of memory, we aim to understand why some memories are strong and lasting, while others are fragile. Our ultimate goal is to use this knowledge to help people affected by memory-related conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, PTSD, and addiction.
Mouse in VR
We combine two-photon calcium imaging, optogenetics, chemogenetics, pharmacology, and virtual reality in mouse models to identify and manipulate the neural circuits involved in memory formation and recall.
